Split Rock Lighthouse Visitor Center

An addition to the existing visitor center at this Minnesota icon on the north shore of Lake Superior to accomodate increasing numbers of tourists and improve the flow of visitor traffic. The addition continues the character and materials of the existing building while introducing other materials that relate to the historic buildings and site. The metal roof and trim of the new retail sales area matches the color of the metal roof shingles on the historic keeper's dwellings and the surface of the retail sales counter is Lake Superior Green granite.
