State Theater
Because of its key location in downtown Hutchinson and that the theater had recently been closed, the City commissioned a reuse study as a part of the Revitalization Master Plan for Downtown Hutchinson. Our firm worked with the city and the real estate company to evlauate the condition of the building and potential reuses. The original design of the building included ground floor retail space as well as the movie theater, and apartments on the second floor. Because of the sloped floor of the theater, reuses other that its original design were fairly expensive. Reuse of the theater as it was designed is the best use. Fortunately, a new owner has been found who plans to reopen the three screen movie theater and renovate the second floor space fronting the street into an owners residence.
